Tonight's family home evening idea comes from That Good Part, and it's all about spiritual preparedness.
We all know that trials and tragedies can strike at any time. It's important to be temporally prepared. Without temporal preparedness, we could be in some big trouble when a disaster strikes. On top of being temporally prepared, it's so important that we are SPIRITUALLY prepared. Just as the righteous Anti-Nephi-Lehies in the Book of Mormon were not afraid to die, we can have that same sure faith in God. That's what it means to be spiritually prepared.
“I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." – Doctrine and Covenants 38:30
19 "And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.” –
