The First Presidency encourages members to prepare for adversity by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings. They have counseled us to store foods that are a part of our normal diet in our three-month supply, and to build up longer-term storage, focusing on food staples such as wheat, rice, pasta, oats, beans, and potatoes that can last 30 years or more.
